If the automatic connection links above don't work, the following steps will help you establish a connection manually:
Open mIRC on your computer.
Click 'File' -> 'Select Server' or press Alt+E to bring up the mIRC Options screen.
In the 'Category' column on the left, click 'Servers' located under the 'Connect' category.
Click the 'Add' button on the right side of the screen.
Enter the following information in the corresponding fields of the 'Add Server' screen:
Description: SLAA Online
IRC Server:irc.StarLink-IRC.org
Ports: 6667 (or for a secure connexion use secure port +6697)
Click the 'Add' button.
Click the 'Select' button..
Enter the following information in the corresponding fields on the right side of the screen:
Nickname: Your nickname is the name by which other people will know you on IRC. There are many hundreds of thousands of people on IRC, so it is possible that someone might already be using the nickname you choose. If that is the case, you should choose a different nickname.
Alternative: You can also enter an Alternative nickname which will be used if someone is already using your main nickname. If both nicknames are in use, mIRC inserts "/nick" into the status window edit box so that you can enter a new nickname and press the enter key.
Name: This is optional. Whatever you enter here is visible to other people on IRC. You should normally not enter your real name. Most people enter a comment.
Email: This is optional. You can enter your email address here if you wish.
Click 'Connect'.
The first time you connec to the server the mIRC Favorites window will appear. Click the 'Add' button.
Type, '#SLAA' in the 'Channel' field.
Click the check box next to 'Join on Connect' field in the 'Options' area.
