Motion from Lotus re SLAA ABM 2018:

Motion: That SLAAOnline actively seek a delegate to go to the 2018 ABM to represent our group. - APPROVED

Motivation: Registration will begin February 1st, with a $50.00 discount to register now, early and inclusion in a raffle for free registration (which includes food and lodgings). Up to $1,000 of travel costs will be reimbursed if the delegate comes from more than 500 miles away, otherwise we pay for transportation. The sooner we can get this in, the better.

Motion from Lotus re SLAA ABM annually: - APPROVED

Motion: That the SLAAOnline group send a delegate to the ABM yearly (if the funds are available), to include: Transportation (not to exceed $500.00), registration/accommodation/meals ($895) and daily per diem (pocket money); that we actively seek funds to finance the sending of a delegate to the ABM, by placing a banner on the website and announcing the raising of funds for such in the meetings.

Motion from NancyD re long idling:

Motion:

CURRENT GUIDELINE:

"If your computer is on auto-reconnect, you will be kicked and banned briefly to disable the auto-reconnect. It would typically occur if a member has been idle (away from keyboard) for more than 30 minutes if a meeting is about to start or between meetings if a member is sharing a very personal story, and 60 minutes in between meetings, so as to protect privacy in the room. OPs should query prior to kicking. Repeated long idle instances need not be queried prior to kicking. (Please note the reason for this policy is that an unmonitored computer can be viewed by anyone passing by, and therefore this policy will better ensure member privacy.) (9/15/03),(3/1/11), & (12/10/13)."

PROPOSED REVISION: - APPROVED

"An unattended screen (30 minutes during a meeting; 60 minutes during informal chat) can be an invasion of privacy and a violation of anonymity. If an OP considers this a problem, the member will be kicked. A computer found to be on auto-reconnect may be banned briefly to disable that feature. OPs should query prior to kicking the first time; repeat instances need not be queried prior to kicking. If the behavior persists, an OP may issue a ban. Bans may be progressive, beginning with a ban until the next scheduled meeting. No query is required prior to ban; OP should note reason for ban in system ban process and report to SLAA office."

Motion from Bob re Meeting Opening Script:

Motion:

Current Opening Script (near the end):

“We suggest that you share about your experience, strength and hope in using the 12 steps and the Tools of Recovery in your 24hour experience. We suggest that all shares be SOLUTION-FOCUSED, in which you share your growth and recovery, even through the difficult times”

Proposed Revision: - APPROVED

“We suggest that you share about YOUR experience, strength and hope in using the 12 steps and the Tools of Recovery in YOUR 24-hour experience. We suggest that all shares be SOLUTION-FOCUSED, in which you share YOUR growth and recovery, even through the difficult times, using words like: me, mine, my, I, rather than us, ours, our, etc, keeping your sharing in the first person singular.”
